The Feeling Good Handbook Can Help You Feel Better

While our offices have full libraries of books there's a few that stand head and shoulders above the rest. These are the ones that we frequently use because they are so helpful.

Dr. David Burns has a couple of those most valuable books. This month we'll take short look at the "Feeling Good Handbook".

Many books that focus on mental health issues don't get read because they are too boring. When you're having trouble with your emotions or moods or just generally feeling bad, the last thing you need is to be told to read a boring book. What you want is help not to be put to sleep.

Two features of Dr. Burn's book that makes it easy to read and understand are the numerous stories and the charts, exercises, and worksheets.

The stories about his own patients provide examples that most of us could probably recognize in our own lives. Even if you don't suffer from a typical mental health issue, like depression, I bet you could find examples of distorted thinking that you are often guilty of. The stories provide an educational experience while being interesting and almost entertaining at the same time.

The numerous charts, exercises, and worksheets helps you to see how you could apply some of his principles in your own life.

It doesn't matter what you might suffer from, this thorough book might just have some of the answers that can definitely help you feel better today. Check it out here. And while you're there you can even read parts of the book for free.

And don't forget that our professional counselors can help you in ways that a book may not be able to.
